In 2001, Kindom Care Reentry Network (KCRN), now the largest faith-based ex-inmate mentoring organization in Philadelphia with over 65 congregational or community partners, emerged as a result of several leaders of prison service organizations coming together to establish a holistic continuum of care for the men and women returning to their communities after a period of incarceration.
Having been a leader in prison ministry and aftercare services for many years, Rev. Dr. Ernest McNear, pastor of True Gospel Tabernacle COGIC, was chosen as Chairman of KCRN.
KCRN is a program within community Connections Services and Developments, a 501(c)(3) community-based non-profit organization providing holistic aftercare services to ex-inmates and their families.
The mission of The “Kingdom Care Reentry Network” is to significantly reduce the rate of recidivism in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. K.C.R.N. will mobilize, organize and empower the considerable, valuable resources of the Philadelphia area faith-community, which are focused on prison ministry in general and reentry aftercare services in particular. The Kingdom Care Reentry Network will adapt the “best practices” and the “best resources” of each K.C.R.N. member organization and partner in order to provide the various services needed for the successful reentry of former inmates into the community.
